Capturing the Magical Swedish Countryside
These amazing photographs of the Swedish countryside were taken by 36 year old Joakim Palusa from Småland. They really capture the warmth and beauty of the woodlands and pastures of southern Sweden.
Nordique caught up with Joakim to discuss the inspiration behind his wonderful photo collections:
“I only took up photography around a year ago, but my interest in it has developed so quickly since then. Initially I was just using my mobile phone, but after a while it developed into a nice hobby and I bought myself a DSLR. Since then a whole new world has opened up for me - it’s now progressed to be more of a passion than just a hobby.”
“There’s nothing better, in my view, than being out in the forest. It’s full of so many inspirational things, and changes with every day. You can walk the same path a thousand times and still see new things every single time. And being out at dawn and dusk to see the animals like the deer in the fields is just magical.”
“We live right next to the forest - it is literally 20 metre from my house. I often just wander in and see what I can find - I rarely have a plan with what I want to capture in an image. With my pictures, my main aim is to try to make the person looking at them feel as if they were actually there.”
“I try to capture not just a subject, but context too. The warm late summer evening light, for example, or the cool breeze rustling through the corn. I like to try to get as mush character into my pictures as I can, so that the viewer can really relate to them.”
