Villa Ljung by Johan Sundberg
This beautiful Scandinavian summer retreat is called Villa Ljung. It has been designed by architect Johan Sundberg, is located in Höllviken in the far south of Sweden, just a stone's throw from the sea. The area is filled will pine forests that lead on to pristine white sand beaches, and this plot makes the most of the beautiful natural surroundings.
The feeling of being 'at one' with nature is a great influence on the design of this property. Exposed timber facades and multiple bi-folding doors draw the outside environment in, creating a light-filled space.
The property has a Danish brick flooring style throughout, the interior, which also flows through to form the a path leading to the front door. It's part of a quirky retro-influenced interior design that beautifully balances modern touches with interesting nods to 1970s Scandinavian classics.
The garden area was separately designed by landscape designer Anders Folkesson, and draws inspiration from the plot in its undeveloped state, with narrow pathways leading through the heather and moss.
The kitchen area shows further influence of the retro-inspired design, with a simple but understated units stone work tops and pine edgings.
The interior of the villa utilises an open plan style, with the kitchen and living area flowing through to the outside terrace area. The slate partition and open hearth are further indications of the retro influence that the interior designers have taken.
The design of the villa allows a natural flow through the whole property, out onto a secluded and private winter garden.
On a glorious day, with the sun shining, and the beautiful sea close by, this is quite a stunning location.
