A Spectacular Nordic Cabin!
Located in the Krokskogen Forests, on the shores of the Steinsfjorden Lake, this stunning Nordic cabin feels like it is located thousands of miles from the hustle and bustle of modern life. In fact, it is a short drive from Oslo in the south of Norway. Perfect for escaping from city life for the weekend!
To make the most of the setting, and to offer shelter from the strong winds off the water, the cabin is organised around several outdoors spaces. Each is designed to receive the sun at different times of the day.
The interior is a shaped as a broad, continuous space. The curved walls and ceilings form continuous surfaces clad with birch plywood. The floor follows the terrain and divides the plan into several levels that also defines the different functional zones of the cabin. The transition areas between these levels create steps that provide various places for relaxing.
The centrepiece of the cabin is the fireplace, set down in the floor of the main access level. it is designed to provide the feeling of a campfire around which home life revolves.
Large glass walls are located in the living and dining areas. The frames of the glass are designed so that they cannot be seen from the inside. This creates a more direct relationship with the natural environment outside.
When seen from the outside, the cottage has a more rectangular geometry and the walls and roofs are covered with 20mm basalt stone slabs laid in a pattern similar the ones often used for traditional wooden claddings in Norway.
The huge windows flood the main living area with light, and draw in the outside environment to the cabin. The beautiful round fireplace is the focal point of the whole interior of the building.
Beautiful craftsmanship has created the swooping vaulted ceilings and minimalistic living space.
The entire building consists of one continuous space - even the bedroom is separated only by a curtain. This allows a minimalistic style to success and is complemented by the nature, soothing feeing of this home.
It almost feels as though the windows are not even there!

The long, beautiful Scandinavian summer nights are where this cabin really comes to the fore. What a beautiful spot to while away the time, getting away from it all...
