Through the Icelandic Landscape | Jan Dančák

This week, Nordique is delighted to introduce a guest post from Czech photographer, Jan Dancák. Jan has spent time in Iceland taking some of the most wonderful scenic photographs imaginable. We were so pleased that he has shared his experiences with us:

"My name is Jan Dančák and I'm 23 year old. I was born and raised in eastern part of Czech Republic, in a small town named Frýdlant nad Ostravicí located in beautiful Beskydy Mountains. There, surrounded by mountains and woods, I became very enthusiastic about spending more time in the wilderness, mostly with my best friends, doing different outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, biking and freeride skiing. Later on I really started to realise that I'd love to be capturing all those moments properly, really doing them justice. That was the time that I bought my first DSLR. My passion for photography still burns strongly, especially so after my life changing decision to move to Iceland."

"I came to Iceland basically right after I graduated high school and I’ve been living here since then. It’s been four years now. This beautiful island changed my life and allowed me to really find myself in what I love to do. I enjoy to photograph life around me, here in this wonderful environment and there’s just not many places out there with such a remote feeling. There are jaw-droppingly beautiful landscapes wherever you go. I do also spend most of my free time doing backcountry skiing and other outdoor sports which always bring me to non touristy and unexplored parts of the country. This all very much reflects on my photography style as well. I can’t say that life is any easier up here, but for me it is very balanced harmony between having a blast on local mountains, challenging myself and seizing new life opportunities. I am not planning to leave Iceland any time soon, so you can look forward to a lot of new photos from my adventures!"
