Planning your travels around Norway can be a difficult one due to the endless beautiful locations. Renting a car and driving through the country is one good option, but if you feel more like sitting back whilst enjoying the journey, the Norwegian cruise ship Hurtigruten (also known as the Norwegian Coastal Express), is a great alternative! This mind-blowing journey takes you almost the entire length of the country and the Classic Round Voyage is a 12 day journey, covering over 2500 nautical miles, but with 34 ports en route there are also shorter options available, as you can select from a number of arrival and departure options.
The journey is one of the most astonishing coastal journeys on earth, it docks at secluded villages that are nearby impossible to access by road, crosses the Arctic Circle, gives you a near glance at the coastal fjords and takes you through islets and archipelagos. And not to mention the northern lights!
And if you appreciate good food, Hurtigruten won the prestigious Marmerk award for “Norwegian on the menu”, with the creative chefs serving fresh local Norwegian food, with a mixture of both new and traditional dishes, supporting local fishermen, farmers and suppliers along the coast.
