Celebrate Easter in style
The Scandinavian Easter is a tradition that gets truly celebrated. Pickled herring, boiled eggs, gravad lax (cured salmon), beetroot salad, chocolate and marzipan candies and of course the classic shot of spiced snaps, are the most common served food and drinks.
Looking for some inspiration to lay the table and decorate?
Starting off with a clean white base, such as a white linen table cloth, white chairs and napkins, helps make your beautiful details stand out. Place some hand picked spring flowers in a vase, pick and decorate some 'Easter branches' with the hand painted colourful eggs you had fun painting yesterday, and serve bread and suitable foods on wooden cutting boards to get that country feel to your table. Fresh flowers and a rustic style goes very well together, to add some rustic to your decorating, use straw string to tie up your napkins, baskets to put your eggs in and wooden boxes as side tables.
Egg painting can be done in many different ways. For a quick but beautiful and 'stand out' style, spray paint your eggs in gold or silver, if you have some more time on your plate and looking for a different style, then hand paint your eggs in different patterns, dots, colours, stripes or maybe even animal faces or landscapes. You can also use the eggs to write down your guests names for your table seating plan.
If you want to leave your eggs for longer, shake a room temperatured egg and then gently pick a small hole in both ends (one slightly larger than the other), and empty the egg by blowing out the content from the smallest hole. But don't throw the content away, save and use if for your baking instead.
