Magnificent Norway with Ruslan Merzlyakov

Magnificent Norway with Ruslan Merzlyakov

These stunning photographs are taken by Latvian photographer Ruslan Merzlyakov - who is only 21 years old, but already shows an incredible talent for landscape photography. Originally from Latvia, but now based in Denmark, Ruslan travelled across Norway to capture some the true spirit of the awe-inspiring scenery that the country is blessed with.

In addition to the wild, untamed mountains and fjords of Norway's long Atlantic coastline, Ruslan has developed a real passion for astrophotography and nightscape photography. The beautiful photo below shows some of the spectacular results.

Ruslan's very first trip to Norway was back in July 2014 and has ever since falling in love with the country. His visits include trips to remote Svalbard, high inside the Arctic Circle. Ruslan has driven all alone throughout the entire country to the North Cape on motorcycle. One of his favourite spot in Norway is the stunning Lofoten Islands, especially Moskenesøya and Hamnøya, as the eerily beautiful photograph above shows.

During my whole stay in Lofoten in October it was raining all the time, but luckuly, in the middle of the night, there was a short window with a clear sky and a nice Aurora! Never give up on photography!

Ruslan is passionate about Norway because it's so pure and powered by nature. He sees it as a photographer's paradise. One day he is hoping to move to this truly magnificent country to be one with nature and to always have access to photograph the beautiful landscapes!
