A mountain cabin with a difference!
In the mountainous district of Ål, high above the Norwegian fjords, is this stunning cabin, designed by Norwegian architects Fantastic Norway. It is designed as a private retreat that can only be reached on skis in winter. Specially designed so as to be as harmonious as possible, the cabin has a steep 23 degree pitch on the gable roof, which has the unusual advantage of allowing the occupants to ski and sledge down from the roof top and straight onto the mountain!
The lodge is constructed as a 'landscape element', with wind and snow being led over it's integrated design - making the lodge seem like it is part of the mountain side.
We love this design - a beautiful example of Scandinavian minimalism, coupled with real functionality. Now, we just need to save us the pennies to get one ourselves!!
